Dylan Hotchin has extended his lead in the JCW Sport class after victory in the second Vertu MINI CHALLENGE race of the weekend at Oulton Park.<\/strong><\/p>\nHotchin started the race from third on the grid with Albert Webster on class pole and the Invitational entry of Harvey Riby in second, with Webster keeping the lead when the lights went out for the start.<\/p>\n
Riby slotted in behind but as the field headed into lap two, saw his chance to make a move for the lead as he took a look at Webster going into turn one.<\/p>\n
Hotchin was following behind however, and seized the chance to dive inside Riby to grab second spot before grabbing the lead from Webster going through Cascades to hit the front of the field.<\/p>\n
Things for Webster then went from bad to worse when he ran wide at Lodge at the end of the lap to drop to the back of the field, leaving Hotchin to battle Riby for the win at the front.<\/p>\n
The pair ran nose to tail for a number of laps before an error from Riby at Druids saw his race come to an early end in the gravel trap, which left Hotchin comfortably clear at the front to pick up maximum points.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a tough race at the start but things came to us and it was very enjoyable,\u201d he said. \u201cWe all pushed early on and I managed to get ahead and me and Harvey were pushing together and made a gap.<\/em><\/p>\n\u201cWe\u2019ve known each other for a long time and raced together in karts so I knew he wasn\u2019t going to do anything stupid for my championship and it\u2019s great to get maximum points as it moves me closer towards my goal.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\nThe issues for Webster and Riby allowed Cameron Richardson to come through to take second place as he improved on his race one result, with Ben Crossley making his return to the podium in third spot for what was his seventh podium finish of the campaign.<\/p>\n
Crossley would largely match Richardson for pace throughout, but couldn\u2019t get quite close enough to make a move on the NAPA Racing UK driver, whilst Webster followed behind in a lonely fourth place.<\/p>\n
Chris MacKenzie rounded out the finishers in fifth despite a challenging race that saw the Bitcoin Racing driver forced to contend with damage to the diffuser on the rear of his car, which was dragging along the floor by the end.<\/p>\n
