Albert Webster made it five successive wins in the JCW Sport category with victory in the opening race of the weekend at Oulton Park.<\/strong><\/p>\nThe JRW Motorsport driver headed to the Cheshire circuit on the back of a stunning showing at Snetterton, where a quartet of victories had seen him bounce back in style from the accident at Donington Park that also ruled him out of action at Brands Hatch – wiping out the opening two meetings.<\/p>\n
Webster qualified on class pole and although he held the lead at the start, current points leader Dylan Hotchin quickly latched onto his tail having managed to get ahead of the Invitational entry of Harvey Riby on the opening lap.<\/p>\n
Heading into Old Hall at the start of lap two, Hotchin launched a bid for the lead in his JamSport-run car but was unable to get his nose down the inside to make a move stick, allowing Webster to retain his place at the front.<\/p>\n
From that point on, that pair would largely run together on track and it was only in the closing laps that Webster was able to break away to take the win, crossing the line just under two seconds clear.<\/p>\n
\u201cDylan really kept me honest today and he tried to make it through a few times so I had to battle hard to keep him behind,\u201d Webster said. \u201cIt was good fun and we had to deal with managing the tyres in the heat – particularly when we don\u2019t get as many tyres as the JCW cars have. I think we\u2019ve saved good tyres for tomorrow so we\u2019ll try and do it again.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\nDespite failing to add to his own victory tally, second for Hotchin allowed him to add to his podium tally and ensured he was able to extend his advantage at the top of the standings by a further four points.<\/p>\n
\u201cI really enjoyed that battle, we had a good race,\u201d he said. \u201cThe heat put a lot of pressure on us both when we were fighting for position and I had a good go. There was a point when I could see the gap was there but I didn\u2019t want to risk contact and wanted to play fair, plus my championship is also on the line. I just need to keep the points ticking over.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\nOn his debut in the JCW Sport car, Riby took third spot although his Invitational status meant it was NAPA Racing UK\u2019s Cameron Richardson who rounded out the podium in terms of championship points.<\/p>\n
Richardson had spent most of the race looking to find a way ahead of Riby for third on the road before a moment at the chicane saw him forced to go down the escape road, dropping him away from the front three.<\/p>\n
Behind him, Chris MacKenzie and Ben Crossley had their own private battle for fifth spot for the first half of the race before Crossley managed to sneak ahead of his Bitcoin Racing rival.<\/p>\n
Once clear, the JamSport man eased clear to secure the position, with MacKenzie following him home to complete the field.<\/p>\n
