ALBERT WEBSTER FENDS OFF ROAN LUNDY FOR JCW SPORT VICTORY<\/h2>\n

Albert Webster grabbed a second JCW Sport victory of the day in the first of Snetterton’s three Vertu MINI CHALLENGE races.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As in the JCW category with Dan Zelos, Webster had picked up a win in the earlier race that had been rescheduled from Donington Park and went into the race sitting second on the class grid behind Roan Lundy.<\/p>\n

Lundy had become the first person to put the Sustainable Fuel Development car onto pole thanks to having the best of the second fastest times in qualifying, but it was Webster who grabbed the lead at the start, with current points leader Dylan Hotchin also managing to get ahead of Lundy on the opening lap.<\/p>\n

Hotchin dropped out of the battle when he pitted on lap two with what he initially thought was a puncture, but was later diagnosed as a problem with a shock absorber – dropping him to the rear of the field.<\/p>\n

Unlike in Round 2 earlier in the day, Webster was unable to race away at the front however, with Lundy able to keep him honest throughout at the pair ran in close quarters from start-to-finish.<\/p>\n

Webster took the flag little more than a second ahead to score his second win of the season, with Lundy following him home in second – although the fact his car in an Invitational entry meant he wasn\u2019t able to take his place on the podium afterwards.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m over the moon as I didn\u2019t expect that at all,\u201d Lundy said. \u201cI\u2019m a bit gutted that I can\u2019t take a trophy home but I\u2019ll take a second place finish on the road any day of the week!<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cGetting back in front-wheel drive was great fun and I loved every minute of it. Finishing in P2 isn\u2019t a bad result.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

With Lundy not eligible for points either, second place instead went to JamSport\u2019s Ben Crossley, who maintained his consistent campaign with a sixth podium from seven, ending up comfortably clear of third placed Cameron Richardson – who found himself battling a lack of power in the early stages.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really happy with a podium in that race, and I\u2019m glad the conditions have now dried out,\u201d Crossley said. \u201cI\u2019m really enjoying things at the moment and I feel a lot better in the car now I\u2019ve got a few rounds under my belt, and I\u2019m confident going into tomorrow.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Despite his earlier stop, Hotchin recovered to be classified fourth in terms of championship points with Chris Mackenzie the only retirement after he ran off track early on whilst running third, and was then given a mechanical black and orange that saw him forced back into the pits.<\/p>\n
